Description

Classic Alpine A110 For Sale

Just 7,500 Renault Alpine classic A110s were produced, making this a very exciting prospect for enthusiasts and collectors alike. This particular example has exceptional motorsport provenance, also having been driven by Damon Hill at Brands Hatch prior to the British Grand Prix; with the roof lining signed by Damon, Jacque Villneuve, Derek Bell, Tony Mason and a number of other prominent drivers. A copy of Classic Cars article on Damon’s drive is included.

Whether you like to drive to the limit, or cherish and use sparingly, this example is ready for both potential types of new homes.

The Alpine A110 Berlinetta was a remarkable feat of engineering back in the 1960s. Weighing under 800kg and with a highly tuned 1,600cc power plant, the classic Alpine 1,600 was hitting exceptional acceleration numbers for the era. Combined with double wishbone suspension at the front, disc brakes all-round and a precise and tactile steering setup, the ‘dinky’ and iconic bug offers an unrivalled drive.

So successful was the recipe, the Alpine A110 classic would go on to dominate the first World Rally Championship in 1973 including a 1-2-3 on the Monte Carlo rally. This was a car that wasn’t designed specifically for rallying, it was developed off the back of a road-going variant.

The TCC team recently enjoyed a day out at Gasoline Juice with a modern Alpine and this classic A110 together. Both are exceptional to drive, but one fills the heart to the brim…
